Andy Samberg - interviewed behind the scenes of the Jonah Hill SNL short

A behind-the-scenes look at the SNL Digital Short with Jonah Hill and Andy Samberg

"And I say that with no trace of homophobia. I'm all for gay stuff." "Oh, no, it was a disgusting kiss."

Noice!

Chris Parnell interviews Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer (pronounced Shawfer). Akiva's got a shirt on that says, "Seth."

As I suspected, Jonah Hill wrote this skit.

The role of Andy's dad is played by James Downey:
http://imdb.com/name/nm0235999/

James has been writing for SNL since 1976 (468 episodes). He writes all the political cold opens (and a lot more). He has also starred in 61 episodes of SNL. He was the homeless guy in Dirty Work and the principal in Billy Madison.

It's interesting that Akiva directs them to pause for laughs.

Andy Samberg: Not cool with Jonah dating his Dad

Digital Short: Andy's Dad
Jonah Hill dates Andy's dad

This is hilarious! I think SNL gives a lot of clout to their hosts to decide what to do with these things (when they have opinions to add; obviously Amy didn't care with the Hero Song). Andy totally should have done a music video with Mariah though. Although this is hilarious, they are doing way too much with homosexual gags lately.

This was Jonah Hill's idea, based on a dream he had.

Nice silly touch at the end with Bill.

That's not Andy's dad. That's one of the senior writers at SNL, who writes all the cold opens and political shtick.

Check out the behind the scenes video that reveals a lot of the process of making this digital short:

TRANSCRIPT:

[ tag (over black screen): "An SNL Digital Short" ]

[ dissolve to Andy Samberg being fitted for a costume change, as Jonah Hill walks up ]

Jonah Hill: Hey, dude.

Andy Samberg: [ looking up ] Hey, man.

Jonah Hill: [ apprehensive ] Um -- are you busy right now? Can you grab a coffee, or something?
Andy Samberg: Yeah, of course. [ uneasy ] Is everything okay?

Jonah Hill: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I just want to run something by you real quick.

Andy Samberg: Okay. Let's do it.

[ cut to Andy and Jonah seated at a table in Starbuck's ]

Andy Samberg: So, what's going on? You nervous about the show?

Jonah Hill: [ shaking his head ] No, I'm -- I'm -- I'm feeling okay about the show. I'm more excited than anything else.

Andy Samberg: Well, good. So what's up?

Jonah Hill: Um... so, you remember when I met your family last week at the show?

[ flashback to Jonah meeting the Samberg Family ]

Andy Samberg: Oh... yeah. They actually loved you. My mom thought you were hilarious!

Jonah Hill: [ nervous ] Yeah, uh -- well, there's actually kind of an issue with that.

Andy Samberg: [ confused ] Like... what kind of an issue?

Jonah Hill: Well... since then... I've, uh -- I've sort of been... seeing your dad.

Andy Samberg: What was that?

Jonah Hill: [ more direct ] I've been dating your dad.

Andy Samberg: Like, my dad, dad?

[ flashback to Jonah shaking hands with Mr. Samberg, their spark going unnoticed by the remainder of the Samberg Family ]

Jonah Hill: Like... your father... Ben. I've been seeing him every day.

Andy Samberg: So, what -- you guys hang out, or something?

Jonah Hill: Quite a bit, actually.

Andy Samberg: What?

[ flashback to Jonah having dinner with the Samberg Family ]

Jonah Hill: So, last week -- remember when we all had dinner?

Andy Samberg: Yeah.

Jonah Hill: Do you remember when we all parted ways? Alright, well... I had to run back in because I had forgotten my scarf, and... who should walk in, but your dad... and he'd forgotten his gloves. Neither of us were tired, so... we were, like, "Hey! Why don't we just go grab a beer, or something?"

Andy Samberg: You grabbed a beer with my dad?

Jonah Hill: Yes! Just listen, okay?

[ flashback to Jonah and Mr. Samberg having that beer -- clinking their glasses, laughing, and nonchalently touching hands ]

Jonah Hill: So, we got a beer, and... we just started talking, and... truth be told, he is one of the most fascinating people I've ever met in my life.

Andy Samberg: [ laughing ] Is this a joke?

Jonah Hill: No! I mean... I wish it was a joke. It would be easier if it was a joke. It's just that, Ben is --

Andy Samberg: My dad.

Jonah Hill: Yes! Your "dad"! My "boyfriend"! Whatever!

Andy Samberg: You're just "hanging out", right? It's not as if you're...?

Jonah Hill: No, no, no, no, no! It's gotten extraordinarily physical. I mean --

[ flashback to Jonah and Mr. Samberg open-mouthed kissing one another and groping each other's knees ]

[ Andy's face registers a silent panic, as Jonah fondly sips his coffee ]

Jonah Hill: I'm not usually a coffee guy. [ smiles ] Ben's got me trying all sorts of crazy things!

Andy Samberg: Right. Uhhhh -- I gotta be honest with you, I'm... really not cool with this.

Jonah Hill: I know it sounds insane. It sounds nuts, but -- [ he shakes his head ] this isn't just some fling.

[ flashback to Jonah and Mr. Samberg looking out over the harbor... feeding each other during a picnic in Central Park... running through the park... holding hands as they walk through the city... laughing together on the couch before Jonah lowers himself below the screen to perform oral sex on Mr. Samberg ]

Jonah Hill: I don't know how else to say it. I just... I feel like I've never felt with anybody else in my entire life. We just have so much fun together. I mean, when we're together, we laugh and we laugh and we laugh and we laugh, and we laugh some more.

Andy Samberg: Dude... you're dating my 57-year old father...

Jonah Hill: Why is everyone freaking out about the age thing! You sound like your MOM right now!

Andy Samberg: [ near tears ] Don't say my "mom".

Jonah Hill: I know this is tough! But, even if I lose a friend over this... I like to think that I've gained a son.

Andy Samberg: Okay...

[ Mr. Samberg enters, smiling ]

Mr. Samberg: Uh-oh! Here's my guys! Andy... [ rubs Andy's shaggy hair ] Jonah... [ kisses Jonah on the lips ]

Jonah Hill: Hi. Ben.

[ Andy is stone-faced ]

Mr. Samberg: Andy... I've been meaning to tell you. Jonah and I are dating.

Jonah Hill: I'm sorry... I told him already.

Mr. Samberg: Blabbermouth!

Jonah Hill: I know, I'm the worst!

[ Bill Hader enters ]

Bill Hader: Hey, Ben! I'm ready to go! [ freezes when he notices Andy and Jonah are also there ] Andy... Jonah. How do you guys know Ben?

Andy Samberg: Uh... he's my dad?

Bill Hader: Small world! We've been f--kin'!

[ freeze-frame as Hader turns to the camera and smiles ]

[ SUPER: "Created by Lorne Michaels ]

Andy Samberg - Should be in a remake of Major League

Not to start rumors, but Greg Hardy think Andy should be in a remake of Major League, and we agree.

Starting pitching rotation:

Dan Aykroyd (he'd be the type of guy who could pitch into old age, because the older he'd get the more cerebral he would get with his placement. Pay him the pre-HGH Andy Pettitte price of $16 million). ...

Norm MacDonald (though his mix of heat-seeking missiles and his penchant for flakiness might mean ownership would demand they get rid of him before he hit his prime. Give him Mike Mussina's $11 million). ...

Kevin Nealon (what he lacks in power he makes up for in mental command ... as in the subliminal body language that fools opposing hitters into a swing and miss before he barely even releases the pitch. If Carl Pavano can take $10 million for barely doing anything, Nealon can make that much by making people believe he did something). ...

Andy Samberg (youngster just brought up from the minor leagues might be able to pull of a remake of Major League as Charlie Sheen's Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn) ...

and Joe Piscopo (though he's mostly still on the roster because Eddie Murphy likes him).

Andy Samberg - Thinks Justin Timberlake should be a comedian

From:
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20049008,00.html

Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg knows comedy – and says his "D--- In a Box" partner, Justin Timberlake, has the chops to be a comedian himself.

"He's brilliant at it, actually," Samberg says about Timberlake's comedic impulses. "It's a little obnoxious. He's really good at what we do – as we are – and also really good at everything else."

Samberg, 28, and Timberlake, 26, were both recently nominated for an Emmy for their hysterical "D--- In a Box" music video, which the pair wrote and performed on SNL in December. The video became a viral sensation in no time.

In February, when Timberlake was in New York on tour, Samberg showed up to reprise their hit during Timberlake's concert at Madison Square Garden.

When he got the good news about the Emmy nod, Samberg reached out to the singer. "We did a little texting," the funnyman explains. "He was congratulatory, [but] he helped us make it so we all got nominated."

Asked if Timberlake has what it takes to be a Saturday Night Live castmember, Samberg says: "If he decided he wanted to, he would be on in a second."

Andy Samberg - Filmed the Mirror at Midnight

"Joni here with the pre-show scoop on tonight's SNL!!! I just got off the phone with The Dudez. They shot a digital short last night with Ellen Page from midnight to 3am. Akiva is putting the final touches on the edit as we speak for the 8pm dress rehersal. Word on the street is it's a scary one!!! Tonight!"

----

Andy shot the digital short with Ellen from Friday, midnight to 3AM? Brutal!!!

And then Joni gets silly...

----

From:
http://thelonelyisland.blogspot.com/2008/03/snl-digital-short-mirror.html

Dating back to ancient Czech folklore, the story of the mirror man was passed down to countless generations of sleepless Czech-o-slovakians before reaching the Dudes' great-grandparents at various geographic points across Europe and Eastern Asia. Understanding the true nature of the mirror story and the unholy power it possessed, the Dudes' great-grandparents vowed never to pass the story to their children. They were so committed to this cause, that they took their own lives.

Legend has it that years later a traveling child musician purchased the journal of one of the Dudes' great-grandparents from a street vendor and later wrote a song influenced by one of the reoccurring themes from the journal. As it turned out, that musician was Michael Jackson, and it was when "Man in the Mirror" topped the charts for two perfect weeks in the Spring of '88, that the tale of the mirror man first met the ears of the Dudes and their lives would be changed forever.

It hit Akiva first, starting as nightmares and becoming something progressively worse. It has been ten years to the day since he last slept. Andy handled his situation his own way. He locked his door and did not leave for nine days. On the ninth day, he emerged stone-faced and missing three fingers. He has never spoken about what happened in there, but I can only imagine it was a lot of waiting followed by a few brief moments of action. Jorma, on the other hand, had a different experience entirely... he befriended the man in the mirror and they would stay up late telling stories and sharing secrets.

I'm sure you guys have stories about the mirror too, you are not alone!!!

Joni out!

Andy Samberg - SNL Recap, 07-08, Episode 1520: Kevin Federline

Episode 1520 (Seth Rogen with Spoon) Season 33 10/06/2007
Cold Open: A message from Kevin Federline

Andy's Kevin Federline video:
http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2007/10/andy-samberg-as-kevin-federline.html

K-Fed is kinda rockin` it right now. His new album, Playing with Fire, debuts in October 2006, he`s been doing some experimental dancing in his living room, and he`s suing FedEx for stealing his name - an easy paycheck. Most importantly, he just got custody of his two kids, proving that he`s slightly more responsible than Britney Spears.

Tonight, Kevin offers a message for all the parents out there: learn from him. Parenthood ain`t that hard, just follow K-Fed`s three simple lessons. Always feed your kids; Kids are babe magnets, and if you`re going to Vegas for a month and need a babysitter, call him. He`s good at singing lullabies, calling poison control, bartending, waiting for poison control, balloon animals, and convincing poison control that he`s really calling back two hours later about a separate incident.

In summary, Kevin claim he`s like the new Bill Cosby. He`s really funny, good with kids, and he`s black. Oh, and live from New York, it`s Saturday Night!

---------------

That was Andy Samberg's first and only cold open (as of 3/20/08), where he got to say, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

The reason is that these cold opens are reserved for top news, politics, and guest appearances. So Andy would need to do something like this, an impression of someone in a top news story, in order to do a cold open (especially since Andy doesn't do any political impressions).

Andy Samberg - Vommits Fred's Coffee (Entertainment Weekly Interviews)

Hahahahaha!!!

So the SNL team kicks back and improvs in this video:

http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1137819692/bclid1155151521/bctid1456328523

Seth and Amy are pretty funny, but Andy and Fred (but mostly Andy) really steal the show here. Andy Samberg is hilarious.

Wisely, they bookend this piece with Fred Armisen and Andy Samberg at the beginning and at the end.

Also included are Jason Sudeikis with newbie Casey Wilson (wow, thought she was just an interviewer at first) and Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader with Darrell Hammond, Amy Poehler with Seth Meyers, and Kristen Wiig with Will Forte.

Some of my favorite bits from Andy here:

1. Okay. The shot where Andy picks up Fred's coffee, slurps it, realizes he doesn't drink coffee ("No!!!!"), vommits it, and then comes back with "What about Charles Bronson?" is one of the funniest things I've seen in quite awhile. I had no idea Andy could improv this well; he's obviously used to playing off Fred Armisen, and Fred thinks he's hilarious (which he is). This bit almost seems written; it's too good.

2. The song "You've Got the Look" is on in the other room.

3. Andy explaining how gifted he is at playing Obama.

4. Andy watching Fred do a Bill Hader impression.

5. Andy and Fred cursing at the beginning.

Seriously, why did they stop filming Andy and Fred? They should have shot them for two hours and then released this as a film called, "An Interview with Andy and Fred."

Andy Samberg - What Inspired Him and the Lonely Island?

Bolded Andy's quote below.

5 essential ingredients of a Lonely Island spoof

1. The juvenile humor of cartoons
“Cartoons are the best stuff on TV,” Schaffer says. “Wonder Showzen, Aqua Teen, SpongeBob, and, of course, South Park – one of the funniest shows ever made.”

2. The creativity of early SNL
“Albert Brooks’ short films on SNL’s first season in particular have been an inspiration,” Taccone says. “He helped pave the way for what we do.”

3. The ’tude of hip hop
“I hope it shows that we’re actually true fans,” Taccone says. “Nothing’s lamer than a bunch of goofy guys making fun of rap.”

4. The styling of MTV
“I’ve always loved music videos – I used to make my own for bands like Pearl Jam,” Schaffer says. “My favorite directors are Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, and Patrick Daughters.”

5. The pacing of videogames
“Tecmo Bowl and Mike Tyson’s Punch Out!! have taken up a lot of my life,” Samberg says. “Those are hipster games,” says Schaffer. “I’m all about Halo 2.”

Andy Samberg - SNL Recap, 07-08, Episode 1519: Iran So Far

Episode 1519 (Lebron James with Kayne West) Season 33 09/29/2007
SNL Digital Short: Iran So Far

Iran So Far video:
http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2007/10/andy-samberg-is-gay-iran-so-far.html

Andy Samberg presents a video valentine to his new true love, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. They say true love comes once in a lifetime, and Mahmoud is the one for Andy. When it started, Mahmoud was on the news, he was hating gays, Andy was eating food. Mahmoud can deny the Holocaust all he wants, but there`s no denying love.

Special song guests: Adam Levine, Fred Armisen, and Jake G.

As of 3/12/08, this is still the biggest hit of Andy's first season on SNL. His first season, he had Narnia, Young Chuck Norris, Natalie Portman Rap, and Laser Cats (though I also loved the Testicles Song). His second season he had Junk in a Box and Dear Sister. This season, Iran So Far seems to be his only runaway hit.

Ellen Page and Andy Samberg: The Impassioned Follow-Up

By Angela Watercutter

March 02, 2008 11:00:00 AM

So, it doesn’t feature rapping. There’s no genitalia topped off with a bow and no one is doing Michael Cera (sorry, Sonia).

It was more like “I’m F**king Whoever I Want. Deal With It.”

When I started going through clips of last night’s Saturday Night Live deciding which to post as a follow-up to my fanboy drool-fest post about the pairing of Ellen Page and Andy Samberg, I thought sure the opening monologue was the one.

Like many SNL openers before, it gave a knowing wink to the current zeitgeist surrounding its host - in this case the blogged-out jargon screenwriter Diablo Cody wrote for Page’s Juno that hipsters from Williamsburg to Silver Lake take relish in hating. The bit was priceless. Hearing Samberg-as-Cody (in a dress!) valley-girl up his voice to roll out zingers like “My bologna has a first name - it’s O-S-C-A-R” had me laughing out loud. And it was rad to see Page sarcastically put to rest any lingering misgivings that she actually speaks like the character that's made her famous.

But that wasn’t the highlight. That award is reserved for this (above right), which alludes to the other zeitgeist currently surrounding Page: the tongue-wagging about her sexuality. It's hard to say whether this was written before or after Michael Musto's blog post over at the Village Voice brought Ellen Page Sexuality Watch to its boiling point. But that doesn't matter because, as this sketch shows, it doesn't matter. Moreover, it seems Page couldn't really give less of a crap what people think. (Respect.) Homegirl isn't one to suffer fools, and she ain't about to start. (Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Musto.)

Not that this skit is really all about a "message." Page compassionately terminates a slew of stereotypically lesbian sacred cows (personal fave: the reference to a Suze Orman gay mortgage booth) here in her attempt to explain to her boyfriend (Samberg) that she didn't "go gay" at a Melissa Etheridge concert. But when she laments that she can't "just hug a woman with my legs in friendship" without being labeled a lesbian, she nails it. The joke and the point.

It's not laugh-till-you-cry funny, true. Will it go viral? Dunno. But when Samberg, who heretofore has played the role of guy who is concerned his girlfriend is pulling a reverse Chasing Amy, turns to Page and says he'd go to surprisingly great lengths to be around her even if "it turns out you're a real lez" it is magic.

Andy Samberg - SNL Recap, 07-08, Episode 1522: New Theme Music

Episode 1522 (Brian Williams with Feist) Season 33 11/03/2007
Sketch: Brian Williams Search for New Theme Music

A bunch of executives sit around brainstorming with Brian Williams at NBC News HQ. They're making no headway with the younger demographic, and need to give the nightly news a fresh new look and feel. Brian has hired groovy band Dunham and Kirk to come up with a new theme song. There's an urban funk number, a hard core rap, some mellow femme stuff, and the theme from Frasier.

That's where Andy comes in:

Nothing seems right, so Brian insists that they go with his original idea. After all, it's his name on the masthead. Cut to Brian introducing the news, then the new Bond-inspired theme song rolls out. Brian punches the bad guys, hangs with hotties and punches the world, because that's how he rolls.

----------------

Enjoy!

There was no Digital Short that week because they filmed a Day in the Life of Brian Williams instead. They tend to go with what the hosts want if the host has a digital short in mind.

As a bonus, you can see Andy in this shot of the closing farewell from Brian's episode:

Andy Samberg - dances in the park with Catching Rain (fan made video)

Catching Rain (the ladies that did the Andy song) pulls out this silly video of Andy Samberg dancing in the park with them.

Great "voice acting" for the girls and nice shaking of the stick figures.

Andy Samberg - Makes Fred Armisen Laugh

We bolded the Andy part below.

From Fred's Blog:
http://blog.nbc.com/fred/2008/03/tina_feycarrie_underwood.php

Hi! I am so happy to be back at the show. Everyone here is. Right after it was announced that we were going back to work, Seth and Amy set up a last minute get together at a bar downtown. It was a such a good feeling to see everyone. The writers, the crew, people from every department. Nobody was shy about embracing each other and openly saying "I missed you!" Even though it was a difficult time during the strike, many of us kept in touch and hung out. There was a lot of texting. Most of them started out like this: "Hey! How are you? Are you in NY or LA?".

The first day back was interesting in that it seemed like no time had passed at all. My office was as messy as I had left it. I found a chocolate bar on my desk that should have been thrown out ages ago. There was a thin layer of dust on it. But I ate it. Right there.

Why do I do things like that? Please don't tell anyone.

It was great to have Tina as our first host. She's amazing to work with and is really good at coming up with endings to sketches. That's something I find so hard to do. I like coming up with ideas and characters, but endings are always a puzzle for me.

There were a lot of people backstage for the live show. Agents, friends, family. I was so grateful to be back that I didn't mind it being crowded.

Some memories from the week:

Meeting and working with new cast member Casey Wilson. She is so talented and sweet. I'm looking forward to more.

Mike Huckabee and his family were at the show on Saturday. They were super nice and friendly with everyone in the cast. I got to talk to him a little bit about his bass playing.

Steve Martin working on the monologue with Tina. Watching them fine tune it right up until the broadcast. I never take those moments for granted.

Hearing Bill do his incredible Daniel Day Lewis impression from his dressing room.
After the "Celebrity Apprentice" sketch, I had to run to the next set. But I could hear Andy doing that guy with the question mark suit in the distance. I laughed out loud every time.

Getting to play Senator Barack Obama. Jim Downey wrote a brilliant piece about the media and the debate from that week. I can't say enough about Jim. My reaction when I read his sketches for the first time is "oh yeah! It IS like that!" Then I feel like a dummy for not realizing those things earlier. Also, I'm always psyched to do a sketch with Amy. Anyway, about Senator Obama, we did makeup tests on the Thursday before the show. Our head makeup guy Louis Zakarian put it all together. We tried to do as little as possible so that it wasn't too distracting. He glued in these little plastic pieces behind my ears to make them stick out a little. The makeup test, which is pretty much just me standing in front of the cameras for a while, went well. So, thank you Louis!

And thank you for reading this. See you next week!
Fred

Andy Samberg - The Hero Song (SNL Digital Short)

Hmmm. This is really only one long gag, but they sell it way too well.

This was the SNL Digital Short for 3/8/08.

The Hero Song

Meet Andy Samberg... America's new hero. I didn't quite catch the name, though.

http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/#mea=227152

Enjoy!

----------

The Web Show didn't seem to like this one:

Saturday Night Live 3/8/08 - Amy Adams and Vampire Weekend

Saturday Night Live 3/8/08 - Amy Adam hosting with Vampire Weekend as the musical guest.

They used Andy a lot last week. Was he in any non-Digital Short skits this week?

Yes, this is where we post all the non-Andy SNL skits because we go through them all to verify whether or not Andy was in them.

Weekend Update: Sen. Tim Calhoun

Senator Tim Calhoun is running for President. Will Forte knocks one out of the park (these occasional gems are why they keep him around).

He lost me with the gay marriage bill, but got me back with the cow college and Super Tuesday.

Fierce: The Hot Mess Makeover - New Bravo Show

This is a mildly amusing look at Project Runway. It's a little tranny.

Penelope - Traffic School

Kristen Wiig's Penelope the liar attends traffic school.

Amy Adams does a pretty great Penelope impression. And I didn't get the very end at all. =^0

"In the future, I already took this class, and everybody passed. Congratulations!" - LOL

"I am tool That's my eye in the pyramid." =^)

They need to team Kristen up in more dual characters. I love her single characters, but some of the SNL greats were duals: Blues Brothers, Wild and Crazy Guys, Roxburys, Goth Talk, Wayne's World, Spartan Cheerleaders, Hans and Franz, etc. (I know she does the A-holes with Jason, but that's not enough.)

Hilary Clinton - 3am Phone Call

Hillary fields a late night phone call from President Obama.

Hmmm. The skits have been pro-Hilary lately with last week and this week. But I think they were pro-Obama before that. I wonder if they're going to have pro-Obama skits in the future.

They're also not doing much on the Republican side: the guest appearances from Huckabee and Rudolph were good, but neither are going to run for President in November 08.

This was the opening skit, which lately have been very political (makes sense with the Presidential Race). The opening skits are usually the top news stories and involve impersonations. They are often political, and sometimes they involve guest appearances or impersonations of other people who are currently in the news.

Michaela Annette's Latest SNL Journey - 3/1/08

This has a little to do with Andy, and more to do with Bill and Amy. But we don't care. =^)

A great friend of our blog, Michaela Annette, was on Saturday Night Live last week, and we wanted to tell you some of her story.

Check out Michaela's IMDB page:

http://imdb.com/name/nm2484735/

"Michaela can write songs, as well as play the guitar." - Is this true? Can Michaela play the guitar?

That's from:
http://www.tv.com/michaela-annette/person/552014/biography.html

If you remember (and you're a regular reader of this blog), she was in a skit with Andy on SNL back in October 07...

http://andysamberg.blogspot.com/2007/10/andy-samberg-message-from-michaela.html

Unfortunately, that skit got cut. However, Michaela had an opportunity to be in a new SNL skit, that was aired on 3/1/08.

From Michaela:

"I was in the Dakota Fanning skit and I tell Amy that my celebrity crush is Zac Effron."

From Michaela:

"Bill hader was really nice! He made jokes with us through the glass while he was rehearsing his skit and he joked with me and some other kids and told us not to go see Superbad because we are too young."

Here is Michaela with Bill Hader (thanks for the pic, Michaela!):

Michaela talks about Andy Samberg:

"Andy was in the dressing room at the same time as me but in another section while they were doing my hair and he kept smiling at me and then waved to me so I guess he recognized me from the last time I was there [October - Good memory, Andy!]. But then I didnt get to see him again because they shot our scene at outside at the skating rink. Andy, Bill Hader, and Amy are [great]. Bill Hader is really really nice. So that was it.

"The people are so nice. Amy was awesome to me and remembered me from Baby Mama last month and of course I love Andy too!

"So if I am ever on SNL again I will let you know and i will keep watching for your cartoons."

------

Thank you so much Michaela! We welcome any information you might have, and we wish you the best of luck, knowing that it's only a matter of time before you make it big. =^)

And, speaking of our cartoons, here's our latest Zelda trailer (you've probably seen it on the right):

Thanks everyone!

Coming on Saturday Night Live, 3/8/08 - Amy Adams and Vampire Weekend

No Andy in the ads this week. =^(

But here's an intro to Amy Adams, in hopes that we get her in a musical digital short with Andy Samberg! (One can hope.)

Amy Adams was from Enchanted. She was also the love interest in Talladega Nights. Plus she was in these things:

http://imdb.com/name/nm0010736/

She's going to be in Night at the Museum 2 in 2009.

Anyway, Jason Sudeikis has a nice joke here about Enchanted:

Enjoy!

These commercials are advertising season 33, episode 7.

Here's Jason being annoying:

How is this next one even funny?

-----------------------

I think this is further proof that Jason is a funny actor, but he's not pulling out anything crazy here at all. He's just a funny guy, not a Will Ferrell.

Andy Samberg - Dates a Lesbian (Ellen Page SNL skit)

Update: We added a new poll on the right. Go vote! Thanks!
-----------------------------------

Andy Samberg dates a lesbian on this Saturday Night Live skit with Ellen Page.

From the description:

"Do you think Ellen Page used this SNL skit on the March 1 show to respond to the rumors that she’s a lesbian?

"Check out the Saturday Night Live video clip, where Ellen Page says (after returning from a Melissa Etheridge concert): “I just felt like i was an oil lamp that’s never been lit. And now I’m finally burning bright with sister fire!”

"Andy Samberg, playing her boyfriend in the skit says, “You so went gay at that concert.”"

-------------

So we noticed that Andy was in more skits than usual this week (Mirror, Virginiaca, monologue, this skit, etc.), that Ellen Page was in a Digital Short (Tina Fey wasn't in the DVD short from the previous week), and that Bill Hader was only in one skit (as Captain Hook). So we imagine that this just means Ellen thinks Andy is funny and wanted to play off of him a lot (it's evident from the behind the scenes video with Tina that the hosts maintain most of the creative control).

However, I think they should cut more time away from Fred, Keenan, and Will rather than Bill. Give the newer guys a chance to shine!

Enjoy!

Andy Samberg - Is a Space Chimp (movie and videogame)

Andy Samberg is going to be in a new movie and videogame this year. It's a 3D animated movie (and the videogame based on the movie). It's called Space Chimp.

Space Chimp

It's being made by Vanguard Entertainment, which is mostly bad news. Vanguard has released Valiant and Happily Never After so far; Valiant bombed here (did okay in Europe) and HNA bombed everywhere (although HNA is totally worth a rent). Here's Happily Never After in the middle (released in 2006), Ribbit (left), and Space Chimp (right), all from Vanguard (which started when a Shrek producer left):

Vanguard is also working on Citizen Siege, an animation from director Lorne Lanning, the creator of Oddworld. More on Vanguard:
http://imdb.com/company/co0096434/

The videogame is being created by Brash Entertainment:

http://imdb.com/company/co0207809/

Brash completed Alvin and the Chipmunks last year, and they've got Space Chimps, Saw, 300, and Jumper all in the works for this year.

Alvin and the Chipmunks got horrible scores, so that's not a good sign:

Lauren wishes Andy Samberg was naked more

Here's a webcam video where Lauren wishes Andy Samberg wasn't made out to be so ugly. She mentions last week's episode, 2/29/08.

Enjoy (or something)!

Bonus: Where's Bill Hader? Apparently, Bill wasn't in much of that episode (only in the Peter Pan skit as Captain Hook).

Andy Samberg - Wrestles the Ambiguously Gay Duo

Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis wrestle Ace and Gary, the Ambiguously Gay Duo.

This is from Andy's first season of SNL in 2006; there was a Saturday TV Funhouse special. This is also the one where Andy was naked.

Andy Samberg - Quits working at Baby Gap (Shopping with Virginiaca)

Shopping with Virginiaca

"Virginiaca goes to the Baby Gap"

Ellen Page and Kenan give Andy Samberg a hard time. From 3/1/08.

Interestingly, this wasn't the version they showed on TV. Kenan didn't go on the table on the TV version, and Ellen picked up a different pair of pants. Perhaps this is the dress rehearsal instead?

Enjoy!

The New Girl - Casey Wilson

So, who was the new girl this week that's seemingly replaced Maya Rudolph?

Her name...

Casey Wilson

Casey Rose Wilson is an actress and is a featured member of the cast of Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Prior to joining SNL, Wilson was a performer at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCBT) in Los Angeles and New York. At UCBT, her work included the long-running "Rode Hard and Put Away Wet" sketch comedy segment, written and performed with her partner June Raphael. The segment was also seen on HBO's US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado. Wilson and Raphael also worked on the screenplay for Bride Wars, a film expected to star Kate Hudson and currently scheduled for a 2009 release.

Wilson joined the cast of SNL for the show's first new episode after the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike; she was the first new cast member in two years.

Casey has done one impression so far (after only one week), of Rachel Ray.

Wilson was born in Alexandria, Virginia. She is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts and studied at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.[1] She is currently 27 years old.

Andy Samberg - Is an Oscar-winning stripper (Ellen Page monologue)

Backstory: Ellen Page was nominated for an Academy Award for Juno. She didn't win. However, best original screenplay went to Diablo Cody, the writer of Juno:

http://imdb.com/name/nm1959505/

She showed up to the Academy Awards in a weird dress (Andy's is pretty accurate). Here's the dress:

At the Academy Awards, she spoke in her weird language and made it clear that she used to be a stripper. That makes sense, seeing how she kept her stripper name. Her actual name is Brooke Busey:
http://imdb.com/name/nm1959505/bio

So Andy Samberg did a impersonation of her during Ellen Page's SNL monologue:

They even got Diablo's tattoo down:

This is the best Andy Samberg impersonation since Sanjaya. I wish Andy could nail a character like this who will be popular long enough to be back more than once (or in Sanjaya's case, twice).

Enjoy!
