Andy Samberg - On Jimmy Fallon (Video - 10/13/09)

Updated: We added more videos and more info about all the awesomeness that went on that night. Check it out! Originally posted 10/14/09.
===============================

So the big bit of news here is that Andy admits he is not in MacGruber. So that's official now. Now sit back and enjoy...

Part 1 of the Andy Samberg interview:

Oh my gosh they're hilarious together! "Not by much, you are more successful!" Hahahaha.

The Shakira dance gag is also hilarious! And the VMA stuff. Man these guys are on fire together! They have so much funny stuff to talk about!

Here's part 2 of the interview:

And "Threw it on the Ground." Funny stuff!

And the interview continues with a gag on how there's music everywhere:

Guest appearances by Jorma, Akiva, Will Forte, and Fred Armisen, and Higgins and the Roots join in.

The funny thing about this to me is that I've done this same gag for a youth group event. We had four of us doing the different parts of a techno song and then we rotated a few times to pick up the pieces. Always funny and interesting!

A great ending to Andy's interview on the show!

And then when Jimmy has the chef (Jim) on the show, Andy and Greg get drinks and get to break some plates! It's hilarious! Here it is:

It cuts out before you see Andy come out and break more plates.

For some reason, Greg Proops' interview isn't in the clips, so you'll have to catch it in the full episode to see Andy beat Greg at an improv game!!!

Full episode:

You'll have to watch the full episode to get some extra Andy Samberg bits of goodness:

- When Andy comes on, the Roots played and did their own version of Ka-Blamo!

- After Part 2, there are more gags with Andy and Jimmy. "I taste like grapes." "Monty Python." "Eric Idles." That then leads to the "Music in Everything" gag.

- Some more of their music as they show Greg Proops in the back. He was on "Who's Line is it Anyway."

- Andy Samberg beats Greg Proops at Greg's own question improv game! Hilarious! It's at the end of the Greg Proops interview!

- Andy and Greg get some drinks. (You can also catch this in the Chef clip above.)

- Andy and Greg help Jimmy break plates at the end.

- Jimmy names Jorma and Akiva at the end. Althought Andy and Jimmy talked about Jorma and Akiva during the interview, Jimmy just called them "Andy's friends" when they appeared as the camera guy and cue-card guy. I still don't think enough people quite know who they are.

Jimmy looks a little too nervous in his standup at the beginning. He needs to smile more, enjoy the jokes, and hit the punch lines harder. Not sure what's up with that. I'd think Jimmy would be better at that... But his slow jam on the ecconomy is hilarious! (Maybe he was hitting the jokes flat to lead up to the slow jam; not sure.)

Here's just the slow jam:

His "Empty Your Pockets" was also funny:

Good stuff!

And here's the Andy Samberg play-by-play from our wonderful friend and reader, Tisha (who loves comedy). Here's Tisha's Yahoo Answers profile:

And here's her Andy Samberg play-by-play:

This episode was amazingly awesome!

1. I loved how in the beginning The Roots played and did their own version of Ka-Blamo!

2. Calling Gerard Butler ''G-Butz'' funny and

3. the Shakira dance Andy did hysterical, I almost fell out the bed (mentally speaking)!

4. Top Dogs! Hot Dogs! Burgers!

5. The VMA's: ''Jim Jam Jones!'' ''Your'e wearing a blazer, my shirt is untucked!'' ''You're younger than I am you're wearing glasses!'' Hilarious.

6. The picture of Andy and Beyonce (really looked like they were kissing, even though they were and it was on the cheek, not the lips what it looks to be, =D) with Jimmy in the back looking at his hand, haha.

7. Andy taking credit and for the Taylor Swift makeup speech.

8. Sad that Andy is not in the MacGruber movie, it still be great though.

9. ''Threw It On The Ground'' was so awesome and hysterical beyond belief and

10. when they dubbed the kid's part that was funny.

11. The musical thing they did was so unexpected, hysterical, and awesome I was cracking up and laughing soooo hard,

12. I got so excited when they Kiv, Jorm, Will and Fred showed up (especially Kiv and Jorm).

13. I love how Andy such a great friend and always mentions and brings them along.

14. Andy and Greg playing the game silently,

15. breaking dishes at the end, the show was the best.

And I agree with you Jimmy was strangely nervous in the beginning. Or was it the powerful effect of the Samberger? Hmm..

Tisha, you rock!

Enjoy!

Wow, Tisha! Nice play-by-play. I'm going to add it to the post and give you credit.

I'm beginning to wonder if Jimmy's nervousness was a setup for his slow jam gag.

I think he was trying to convey that he wasn't into making fun of the news and that it should be taken more seriously... leading up to the slow jam gag.

It could very well be. What surprises me about Jimmy's show is how everything is well crafted but made to seem like it's all improved and not intentional. For example in this episode, Jimmy and Andy talk about how there's music everywhere, which is obviously a rehearsed gag (but they don't act like it at first).

Another example... When Jimmy brings up Shakira's dance, Andy even says, "Oh, you're bringing that up?" And then it seems like it's not going anywhere... but then Andy busts out this hilarious dance and look gag that shows the whole thing was a setup for the joke.

I've seen Jimmy do it a lot on his other episodes as well. It's kind of interesting.

Aww thanks TAE, but you ROCK HARDER! Your'e right his nervousness was most likely a set-up gag for slow jam. Agree again, the show is crafted, looks professional, and set-up, but the style is not it is unexpected and random. Like you said about the musical is everywhere skit, it looked so natural at first: Andy tapping the pen and then it unexpectingly lead to Jorm, Kiv, Will and Fred popping up. Thanks for mentioning Andy's Shakira dance it did not seem at all set-up, thought it was random (still was), but Andy looking at the camera and angle of the shot gave it away.

I agree with you guys. However, I think Jimmy has always really reflected nervous energy. I wish he would just let it go and roll, because he definitely would bring more audience and fans in. He is really funny, likeable and otherwise doing a great job. I would hate for his nervousness to ruin this for him. I'm rooting for him to keep making it big! Go Jimmy!

Yeah, I hope Jimmy's starting to build his audience. Conan didn't have an audience in his first season yet.

But with this awesomeness and hilarity, Jimmy must be building an audience by now. If Jimmy Kimmel can build one... =^)
